About Auto Parts Car

Auto Parts Car is an independent, plain-English guide to the car parts owners deal with most often. It explains what parts do and how to choose them, and it points to a mechanic for anything safety-critical.

What the guides cover

The site covers the parts most owners buy or talk about with a shop: brakes, filters, belts, batteries, wipers and bulbs. It also explains OEM and aftermarket parts, how to find the right part using your vehicle details, and how to decide whether a job is one for you or for a shop.

What the site is not

Auto Parts Car is not a parts store, a repair shop or a dealer. We don't sell parts, take orders or offer repairs. The name describes the subject of the site, and it is not connected to any business with a similar name.

No brand picks, no prices

We don't recommend brands, rank products or link to stores, and the site has no partner links, sponsored posts or advertising. We also don't list prices. Parts and labor costs vary by vehicle, region and shop, and they change often. A written estimate from a shop or a quote from a parts seller is the only reliable figure.

How we handle safety

Car repairs can hurt people when they go wrong. Our guides describe how parts work and which jobs owners commonly do, in general terms. For brakes, steering, suspension, tires, airbags, fuel systems and high-voltage systems, we point you to a qualified mechanic. Your owner's manual always takes priority over a general guide, because it is written for your exact vehicle. See the safety page.

How the guides are written

Each guide starts from what an owner is likely to see or hear: a squeal from the brakes, weak airflow from the vents, a slow start on a cold morning. From there it explains what the part does, the common warning signs, the details you need to buy the right replacement, and who usually does the job. We keep the language plain, explain technical terms the first time they appear, and round or qualify figures that vary between vehicles. The parts map on the home page and the parts tags on each guide are built from the same short list, so the facts stay consistent across the site.

Facts that change

Vehicle designs, parts, lighting rules and warranty terms change over time and vary between countries. Where a rule applies, we say which country it comes from, and we point to the official source. Legal references on this site describe United States rules as of 2026.
